The Purpose of Oklahoma YMCA Wrestling is to develop a state-wide wrestling program that enables everyone who wishes to participate to learn to love and enjoy the sport of wrestling while building in young athletes a strong character by expanding thier mental, spiritual and physical well-being through the sport.

The Goals of the organization are to provide each participant an equal opportunity to learn, as well as to compete and win, while in a clean, safe and positive environment. The organization and affiliates of the organization are dedicated to the following guidelines:

The organization and it's affiliates, member teams and team leaders shall stress the child first and the sport second
Teams and team leaders affiliated with the organization shall develop an organized skill level development process, accompanied by program values that promote lifetime physical fitness and that develop self esteem and self awareness
Individual team leaders affiliated with the organization shall train athletes in wrestling rules, wrestling moves, and the use of wrestling rules and moves, while focusing on discipline and safety, instilling in the athletes character traits that will help them to become successful and productive in the athletic arena, in the schools, in the community, in the job market, and in life
Individual team leaders shall use only strategies that reflect a standard of fairness to all competitors, and that are designed to encourage participation and competition within the letter and spirit of the rules
